The distinctive red and white striped West Quoddy Head Lighthouse stands watch on a moonlit night at the easternmost point in the US in Downeast Maine along a region known as the Bold Coast. The luminous lighthouse stands above a rocky shoreline with velvet soft blue water below and a deep blue sky with star trails above. You can just see the Southwest Head Light shining off in the distance at the tip of Grand Manan Island. Copyright Bill Caldwell / ABeautifulSky Photography.

Bill Caldwell has always loved hiking and the outdoors so his artistic photography is based in the natural world--landscapes, seascapes, and macro/close-ups of flowers, leaves, rocks, and driftwood, as well as abstracts created from his macro images. After earning his BA degree in industrial and scientific photography in 1978, he spent 20 years in the US Air Force as a Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) navigator. Alana, thank you so much for the feature in Maine Fine Photographers Group!

Marvelous! Once upon a time, when there were cod fish, we used to go to Eastport to fish. We learned to avoid the Old Sow, to be frustrated by those sea potatoes (squirts), and we got very tired bring fish up from 300 feet down. The Maine coast is breath-taking:>) There was a diner there (I think called the Waco Diner) where we met lovely folks. Anyway - great image of Quoddy Light! V/F
ABeautifulSky Photography by Bill Caldwell replied:
Thank you so much Carol! We like to go to Eastport every now and then--very pretty area. We took a day schooner trip once--very cool!
